Paul Pieterse has spent more than two decades on set — from dusty backlots in Cape Town to studio stages across three continents. His career spans stunt performance, stunt coordination, practical special effects, and pyrotechnics on over 60 international productions.
He holds a pyrotechnics license and operates remote and hardline firing systems, bomb pots, and mortar effects at any scale. His SFX department runs general atmospherics, rain rigs from tower systems to overhead rigs, fire of all sizes, and wind machines ranging from interior electric fans to exterior V8-powered units. He builds and operates pneumatic car cannons, lifters, Martini valves, and breakaway rigs.
Based in Cape Town, South Africa, Paul operates through Essential Stunts & SFX. He works with local and international crews and is available for film, television, and commercial productions worldwide.
